NIMC Director General Addresses Senate Committee on National Identity challenges

Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), engaged in a constructive dialogue with the Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population on Wednesday. 

The meeting, chaired by Senator Gbenga Daniel, aimed to address the challenges currently facing the commission and devise strategies to tackle them effectively.

During the session held at the National Assembly, Engr. Abisoye highlighted various issues confronting NIMC, including infrastructure constraints and logistical challenges in the NIN enrollment processes. 

Emphasizing NIMC's commitment to overcoming these hurdles, she outlined ongoing initiatives to enhance service delivery and expand the reach of NIN enrollment services nationwide.

In response, Senator Daniel underscored NIMC's pivotal role as the country's primary data parastatal, emphasizing its significance for security, planning, and national development. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and national interest in the commission's operations, pledging the Senate's support in finding sustainable solutions to its challenges.

Expressing gratitude for the proactive engagement and insights provided by the Senate Committee, Engr. Abisoye reaffirmed NIMC's determination to work closely with stakeholders to achieve its objectives. 

She assured the Committee of NIMC's commitment to implementing the recommendations arising from the discussions.

The Director General's participation in the Senate Committee meeting demonstrates NIMC's dedication to upholding transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement in its efforts to strengthen Nigeria's identity management infrastructure.
