As Nigerians at home and in the diaspora join other Muslim faithful around the world to observe and celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, has urged Muslim faithful to embody the pious virtues of the month as outlined in the Holy book, Quran.
In his annual message, Kida emphasized that Ramadan is not only about fasting, but also a month of reflection, love, peace, forgiveness, and kindness.
"We are grateful to Allah Almighty for granting us the grace to witness and celebrate another month of Ramadan. God has indeed been faithful.
"Let me take this gracious opportunity to encourage fellow Muslim faithful to embrace the virtues of this holy month and reject bitterness, animosity, and hatred. This month offers us another chance to demonstrate love, kindness, and, of course, to promote peace among ourselves.
The NBBF boss also took the opportunity to urge Nigerians to fervently pray for peace, unity, and prosperity for Nigeria.
"It is also crucial that we pray for the peace and unity of our dear country, Nigeria. We are aware that the country is presently facing numerous socio-economic challenges, but with prayers, patience, patriotism, and, of course, genuine support for the government, our country will improve," Kida stated.
