Dr. Gaza Gwamna,  Nasarawa State Commissioner of Health, has confirmed that nine doctors from the Department of State Hospitals (DASH) have resigned from their positions.

He stated that while the nine doctors who left have been replaced, three have joined the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, while six have opted for residency at Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Describing the situation as a temporary setback for state-owned health facilities, Dr. Gwamna highlighted the allure of better conditions of service at the federal level, which often attract healthcare professionals away from state institutions.

"In comparison to state-owned hospitals, the condition of service at the federal level is far superior," Dr. Gwamna remarked.

He emphasized the need for improvement across various sectors, noting that professionals such as journalists, farmers, and engineers seek better service delivery.

Dr. Gwamna assured that efforts are underway to address lingering issues, including promotion and hazard allowances.

He highlighted the implementation of CONMESS at 100 percent in Nasarawa State, with promotions already underway.

"We are making strides in improving our healthcare services, and by the time we leave office in 2027, public hospitals in Nasarawa State will be significantly enhanced," Dr. Gwamna concluded.
