Governor Sule Appeals to Employers Not to Reject Corps Members
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has made a heartfelt appeal to employers in the state, urging them not to turn away corps members assigned to their establishments for their one-year national service.
The appeal was conveyed during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream I corps members' orientation course at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Government Area. Representing Governor Sule, Mr. Ja'afaru Ango, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, emphasized the importance of accepting corps members into establishments, as rejecting them dampens their enthusiasm to serve.
Governor Sule urged employers to provide positive and impactful mentorship to corps members, laying a solid foundation for their futures. He encouraged corps members to accept their postings with grace, emphasizing that these placements were made in line with the scheme's policies and the state's needs.
Furthermore, Governor Sule called on corps members to carry forward the sense of duty and commitment fostered during their orientation course as they embark on their primary assignments. He emphasized the importance of unity, understanding, and empathy in their interactions with host communities, urging them to be ambassadors of hope and advocates for progress.
Expressing gratitude for the corps members' dedication, Governor Sule assured them of his administration's commitment to their welfare, security, and well-being, highlighting the peaceful and accommodating nature of Nasarawa State.
In his farewell address, Mr. Abdullahi Jikamshi, the Coordinator of the NYSC scheme in the state, commended the corps members and the entire camp community for the successful orientation course despite challenges. He outlined the diverse training activities undertaken during the three-week period, including drills, lectures, and skill acquisition programs.
Mr. Jikamshi reaffirmed that corps members had been posted to all local government areas in Nasarawa State as per federal government directives, urging them to embrace their postings and make positive impacts in their communities without seeking reposting.
The call to action resonates with the ethos of the NYSC scheme, emphasizing the importance of selfless service and community engagement among Nigeria's youth.
