The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has urged youths and other Nigerians to embrace sporting activities considering their importance to human and societal development.
He stated this when he attended the final of the second edition of Gov. A A Sule Inter-Security Unity Football Cup Competition today in Lafia.
The Speaker presented the second prize award to the NSCDC team, which secured the second position.
He said that sports promote unity and peace in the country.
The Speaker commended the organizers of the competition for promoting unity and peace among the security agencies.
Rt. Hon. Jatau used the occasion to rally support for Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
Earlier, the initiator of the competition and Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Sule on Sports Development, Hamza Ibrahim, appreciated Gov. Sule for giving him the approval to organize the competition.
He appreciated the heads of security agencies for allowing their men to participate in the competition.
The SSA appreciated government functionaries and others who found time to be part of the competition and prayed for their safe journey to their various destinations.
It should be noted that the FRSC team defeated NSCDC by 2-0 to win the cup, and NAYES secured the third position.
It should also be noted that the competition featured the presentation of awards to the first, second, and third positions, as well as other prizes to players who distinguished themselves in the competition.
The event was attended by Gov. Abdullahi Sule, his Deputy Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, among other dignitaries."
