The Doma Local Government legislative Council has summoned the Education Secretary of the Local Government Area and the Director Personnel Management to appear on Thursday this week over the ongoing recruitment of primary school teachers in public schools.
Hon. Sule Adamu, the Councilor representing Agbashi electoral ward, while contributing under the matter of public interest, maintained that as a member of Doma Legislative Council and also the Chairman of the committee on Education, he is not aware of what is happening with the ongoing recruitment exercise at the cradle of education.
"There is a need for us to invite the Education Secretary to appear before this house to explain to us the ongoing development."
Hon. Jonah Ogah, Councilor representing Galadima electoral ward, seconded the motion.
The Councilor representing Madaki electoral ward, Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu, in his submission, lauded the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, and his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akane, for earmarking a huge amount of money for projects.

Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu moved for the adjournment to Thursday this week and was seconded by Hon. Idris Mohammed, Councilor representing Alagye electoral ward.
It could be recalled that the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has approved the employment of 4,000 primary school teachers in the State.
The State Commissioner of Education, Hon. John Mamman, gave the hint during last year's World Teachers Day celebration held at Government Science School, Lafia.
He said the approval to recruit more primary school teachers was meant to close the gap of teacher deficit.
In a related development, the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board has announced Monday, 19th February 2024, to Saturday, 24th February 2024, as the dates set aside for the screening exercise for all those who applied for teaching jobs with the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board and whose names have been shortlisted.
The Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Muhammad Musa Dan'azimi, made the announcement on Tuesday, 13th February 2024, at the Board's Headquarters during an inaugural meeting of a 30-man ad-hoc committee for screening/recruitment of Basic Education Teachers in public primary schools in Nasarawa State.
The Executive Chairman maintained that the involvement of Local Governments Chairmen, Overseers of the Development areas, Education Secretaries, NUT has become pertinent to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment and urged them to avoid segregation and nepotism.
He mandated the Education Secretaries to liaise with the Local Government Chairmen to ensure a level playing ground for the exercise.
Dan'azimi also announced that Permanent Members of various Zones and the Board Secretary shall oversee the screening exercise at their respective Zones while all Local Government Chairmen shall send their representative who will be observers, adding that SUBEB officials are to educate the supervisors and Education Secretaries on how to go about the process.
Earlier in his welcome address, the central Coordinating Committee Chairman and Permanent Member 3 of the Board, Hon. Joseph Maisamari Kaura, commended His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, Executive Governor, Nasarawa State, for his concerted efforts aimed at creating an environment conducive for teaching and learning in primary schools in the last four and half years of his administration.
He cautioned the committees not to ascribe ownership of the screening exercise hence the process is going to be non-political and only qualified candidates will be considered.
Explaining that the 30-man ad-hoc Committee were drawn from the Academic environment, they are to cover the three Senatorial Zones of the state ( Lafia zone 10, Akwanga zone 10, and Keffi zone 10).
"Those involved in these committees were stakeholders in education."
