The newly inaugurated leadership of the Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA) has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to restrain his aides from interfering in student affairs, emphasizing the need for peace and progress in the education sector across tertiary institutions in the state.
NASSA President, Comrade Yunusa Yusuf Baduku, made the plea following his inauguration in Lafia, the state capital.
Barrister Samuel Omada administered the oath of allegiance to Comrade Yunusa Yusuf Baduku, the new president of the Nasarawa State Students Association, during his inaugural ceremony today.
Addressing students from various tertiary institutions in the state, President Yunusa Baduku expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to promote unity, peace, and protect students' rights. He assured students that their welfare and security would receive utmost attention, promising transparency and accountability in his administration's endeavors.
Furthermore, Comrade Baduku called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to caution his aides against meddling in student activities to ensure the peace and progress of the education sector. He commended Governor Sule for his efforts in awarding scholarships to students within the country and abroad, urging continued support amid rising living costs.
During the event, Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the Nasarawa State Students Association, Comrade Habila Benjamin, urged President Baduku to implement policies and programs aimed at enhancing students' welfare across tertiary institutions in the state.
Additionally, Vice President of the Students Union Government at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Rashidat Aroke, and former National Public Relations Officer, Musa Muka'ila Musa, congratulated the new president on his appointment, urging him to remain focused amidst distractions and fulfill students' expectations.
