The Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, appealed to Northern Governors to assist Kaduna Polytechnic in overcoming acute shortages of hostel accommodation and other infrastructural facilities at the institution. He made the plea during the foundation laying ceremony of the National Secretariat of the Kadpoly Alumni Association in Kaduna on Saturday. Senator Tafida highlighted the institution's 68-year legacy of producing high-caliber human resources experts for Nigeria and the world but lamented the inadequate infrastructure and instructional facilities. He urged the alumni to give back to their alma mater, commended the Alumni Association for its support, and assured personal and governmental support for the realization of the National Secretariat project. Dr. Abba Anas Adamu, the national president of the Kadpoly Alumni Association, emphasized the need to eliminate discrimination between polytechnics and universities in the country's academic system. He appealed for donations towards the proposed National Secretariat and other infrastructural needs of the Polytechnic. Engr. Ahmed Tukur, an alumnus of Kadpoly and Special Adviser to NNPC Ltd., pledged to address the institution's challenges with Tetfund and NNPC Ltd. support. The event also included goodwill messages from notable personalities and a visit to the student hostels to assess the extent of the problems.
