The deposed Amana Kakada Muye in Lapai Local Government of Niger State Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Maigari has been remanded in Correctional Custody on the order of the Mnna Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed.
The deposed. Monarch was arraigned by the men of Niger State Police Command for inciting public peace in the community.
He was standing trial on eight count charges which bothered on Criminal Conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, disturbance of public peace, impersonating Public servant, aiding , abetment, criminal intimidation and disobedience to lawful order promulgated by Public servant.
According to the charge sheet marked MN/CMC/CR/11/2024 made available in court and obtained by this reporter the eight count charges contavened sections 97,114,113,139,95,152 397 of the penal code.
The charge sheet read in part: " that on the 24 January 2024, the Ministry of Local Government Community development and chieftaincy Affairs, Musa Mohammed Musa Kokpa the Executive Chairman Lapai local government Council jointly reported to the commissioner of police Niger State through a petition that on 29 May, 2017, Lapai Emirate Council removed and dismissed you Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Maigari as village head of Muye on the approval of the Executive Council of Niger State.
" In accordance with section 80 (2), of Niger State Local Government law 2001 as amended for the offense of gross misconduct and insubordination .
" Detectives swung into action and arrested Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Maigari. During Investigation it was revealed that You Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Maigari conspired with you Alhaji Aliyu Dauda ( Shaba of Muye) you Alhaji Abdullahi Tijani ( Chief Imam of Muye) you Hajiya Aisha Umar ( Sagi of Muye) you Hon Mohammed Sule Danladi ( Sarkin Tarihin of Muye) as King maker and 20 others now at large parading yourself as village head of Muye threatened and harassing innocent people of Muye, organized a programs to celebrate your 5th years anniversary on 1st,2nd and 3rd of February 2024. Thereby disobeying the Judgement of High court of Niger State delivered on 31st October 2023"
When the charge were read to him by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed, he pleaded not guilty to all the count charges against him.
At this point, the prosecuting police officer Inspector Bello Mohammed requested for an adjournment to enable the police to get those at large arrested as Investigation is still ongoing.
Even as the legal counsel to the Monarch made an oral application for his bail which was objected by the Presiding Chief Magistrate directing him to apply formally.
She then ordered for his remand and adjourned to Eight February to hear the bail application.
