One of the leading Imam of the Masjid al haram in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, Fadhilatush Sheikh Abdulmuhsin Alqasimiy has applauded the Stirling performance of Nigerian students at the online Qur'anic exchange programme conducted among different Islamic countries.
This is contained in a post by Nurut Tilawat International School, Zaria that went viral which reads in part " The Imam who made the recommendation when students of Nurut Tilawat International School, Zaria, paid him a visit at the Holy Mosque in Mecca, said Nigerian students have stood tall among their pairs during the last year of the programme.
"The online Quranic exchange programme was an initiative of the Quran and Sunnah Academy run by the Custodian of the two holy mosques in Saudi Arabia, where hundreds of Islamic countries are enrolled to participate in an enhanced Quranic drilling programme.
"Nurut Tilawat International School Zaria is one of the few schools participating from Nigeria based on the recommendation of the one of the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Fadhilatush Sheikh Abdulmuhsin Alqasimi and had actively participated in the programme with exemplary performance since last year.
"Sheikh Alqasimiy who had earlier directed for the enrollment of the School into the programme last year expressed pride for taking the decision, as the students have proved their hardwork and quest for Islamic knowledge.
"He said "going by the record, the students have distinguished themselves among various participating schools across the globe.
"I am highly impressed by your performance after deligent assessment by tutors of the academy.
"I therefore urged you to maintain and improve on your efforts.
"The Chief Imam assured of his continued support to enhance the performance of the students towards Qur'anic education while pledging to explore more ways of collaboration with the Nigerian schools to achieve greater success.
"Earlier, in his remarks, Sheikh Nuraddeen Tahir, the Director, the School said the aim of the visit was to appreciate the gesture and emphasis commitment toward improved performance.
"He said "since the enrollment of the students into the exchange programme, the school has facilitated state of the art internet facility to help meet up with the requirements of the programme."
"Sheikh Tahir who vowed to expose the students to various opportunities offered by the Saudi Arabian government on Islamic education, hoped that more privileges would be given to the school to enhance performance.
"The students of the school had earlier perfomed Umrah (lesser Hajj) and conducted visits to various religious sites of interest including Masjid al Quba, Mount Uhud,. Prophet Mosque in Madina and Baqee'i graveyard among other places."
