Lapai High Court Rules in Favor of Emigi Community in Land Dispute with Egunpa Community

The long legal tussle between  Emigi Community and Egunpa Community in Agaie Emirate in Niger state over land dispute has finally been put to rest as the Lapai High court  has given its verdict in favor of the Emigi Community.

Justice Danladi Ahmed Badegi in his Judgment delivered Wednesday declared that Emigi being the plaintiff in the matter own the disputed land against the claims of Egunpa Community whom he averred that have no reason to claim ownership of the land.

Egunpa Community  some times in January 2021 approached the Lapai High court claiming ownership of the land from the plaintiff on the ground that they inherited the disputed land from their forefathers and the Emigi Community has no business Claiming ownership of the land.

Barrister Emmanuel Zachariah, the counsel to the plaintiff then filed a declaration of the title before the court which Justice Danladi Ahmed Badegi after perusing the declaration of the title as filed before the court he delivered his Judgment accordingly and that the disputed land belong to Emigi Community.

In an interview with Journalists shortly after the Judgement, Barrister Emmanuel Zachariah commended the judge for his courage in arriving at his verdict describing the judgment as well presented  that will stand the taste of the time.

He described justice Danladi Ahmed as an erudite jurist whose pedigree in the temple of Justice will be reckoned with at all time.

Also speaking, the village head of Emigi Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed appealed to his subjects to continue to live in peace stating that the Judgment has finally put to rest the over two decades legal tursle that has almost crippled farming activities in his Community.

He called on the people of Egunpa to allow peace and the harmonious relationship that exists in the both Communities to continue to prevail noting that no meaningful development will be recorded in a crisis-ridden environment.
